Prep girls soccer roundup: Skyview eliminates Rogers, 1-0

Dea Covarrubias scored a goal in the first half and the Skyview girls soccer team made it stand up to eliminate Rogers of Puyallup 1-0 on Saturday in the first-round match of the 4A district playoffs at Puyallup.

Covarrubias scored her goal off an assist from Ellie Sjogren.

Skyview goalkeepers Taylor Crowley, who had two saves, and Annelise Carroll, who had five, and the Storm’s defense made sure the one goal was enough.

Skyview, the No. 15 seed in the 16-team bracket, advances to play No. 2 Tahoma at 7 p.m. Tuesday at French Field in Kent in a loser-out match.

UNION 3, SOUTH KITSAP 0 — Olivia Euverman had a goal and an assist as the Titans scored all their goals in the first half to win the 4A district playoff game.

Avery Schilling scored the first goal with an assist from Ashley Erdahl, then Euverman followed off an assist by Sydney Young, and Maya Woods had the third goal from Euverman.

Stephanie Leckwold had one save to earn the shutout victory.

The No. 9-seeded Titans next play No. 8 Kentridge in a loser-out game at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ingersoll Stadium in Olympia.

3A district

PRAIRIE 3, AUBURN MOUNTAINVIEW 1 — Molly Montross scored off a corner kick by Cali Turigliatto to get things going, and Abby Hill and Madison Thoreson had the other two goals as the Falcons won at Federal Way to advance.

Prairie will next play Lakes at 7 p.m. Tuesday, also at Federal Way.

PENINSULA 3, MOUNTAIN VIEW 2 — The Thunder’s season came to an end with the loss at McKenzie Stadium. No details were reported.

2A district

RIDGEFIELD 6, W.F. WEST 0 — The Spudders advanced to the 2A district semifinals with the shutout. Paytn Barnette and Victoria Lash each scored two goals for Ridgefield. Next game is Tuesday against familiar foe Columbia River.

COLUMBIA RIVER 2, WASHOUGAL 0 — Ivy Henderson scored both goals for the Rapids, one in each half, as they move on to play Ridgefield on Tuesday in the semifinals. Alla Rust had three saves for the shutout.

HOCKINSON 10, BLACK HILLS 0 — The Hawks rolled in their first-round match of the district tournament and will play Tumwater on Tuesday in the semifinals. Details of the Hawks’ win were not reported.

1A Trico League

SETON CATHOLIC 2, CASTLE ROCK 1 (PKs) — The Cougars won the Trico League playoff in a penalty kick shootout to reach the 1A district playoffs for the first time since 2015.

The teams played a 1-1 tie prior to the tiebreaking kicks won by Seton 3-2.

Maria Apostolou had Seton’s goal in regulation, coming on a penalty kick.

Hailey Hammerstrom was solid at center back the entire game, and then was Seton’s goalkeeper for the shootout where she stopped two shots. Annie Marichalar had three saves in goal during regulation.
