Letter: Share thoughts with Herrera Beutler

I have received emails from Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler the last two weeks, both beginning “Dear friend, The Biden Administration is pushing for … spending” followed by a bolded statement that clearly indicates that she expects an answer of “No” to the subsequent, one-question, Yes-or-No survey.

While I appreciate being asked to provide my opinion, I share Diana Taylor-Williams’ view that these badly written and biased surveys are being sent only to provide evidence that she’s listening to her constituents in preparation for voting against the infrastructure bill. This bipartisan bill is an investment in this country that will benefit everyone. We in Clark County are likely to see direct benefit, as the replacement of the Interstate 5 Bridge is exactly the kind of project targeted to receive funds from this bill.

I urge voters to take a few minutes to act on Rep. Herrera Beutler’s statement “The most important part of my job is taking your voice to Congress,” which is on her contact page (https://jhb.house.gov/contact/). Encourage her to support the infrastructure bill and encourage her to ask for honest feedback so that she can truly represent all of her constituents.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
