A Woodland woman died at a hospital earlier this week from injuries suffered in a crash Monday southeast of Ridgefield.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies and EMS personnel responded at 2:17 p.m. to the intersection of Northeast 29th Avenue and 259th Street for a report of a two-vehicle collision. A 2016 Hyundai Elantra was lying in the ditch on the north side of 259th Street, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

A witness said the Hyundai was facing north on 29th Avenue, which is controlled by a stop sign, and pulled onto 259th Street in front of an eastbound Freightliner truck, driven by Kieth Tyrrell, 29, of Vancouver, the sheriff’s office said.

Tyrrell braked, but the Freightliner collided with the Hyundai’s left, rear door, sending it into the ditch, according to the news release.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 72-year-old Jackie Mizer was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Deputies said they later learned she died there.

The sheriff’s office traffic unit is investigating.
