Clark County COVID-19 activity rises to highest level on record

Clark County’s COVID-19 activity rose to the highest level on record this week with 1,602 new cases since Aug. 26 — the most ever reported in a seven-day period.

The county’s COVID-19 activity rate, which was as low as 50.1 cases per 100,000 residents over 14 days in late July, reached 523 per 100,000 as of Thursday, according to Clark County Public Health. The previously highest rate of 473.7 per 100,000 was reached on Jan. 18 during a post-holiday surge.

Man held on $2 million bail in Aug. 23 fatal shooting in Vancouver

A Vancouver man is being held on $2 million bail, accused of fatally shooting a woman with whom he had been in a relationship, on the night of Aug. 23 near a gas station in central Vancouver.

The victim is identified in court records as 27-year-old Inessa G. Kryshtal.

Vancouver man arrested after allegedly trapping and blinding girlfriend

A Vancouver man allegedly trapped his girlfriend inside his apartment and blinded her after she wouldn’t give him money, court records say.

Joseph Alfredo Hall, 42, made a first appearance Wednesday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of first-degree domestic violence assault, unlawful imprisonment and interfering with reporting domestic violence.

Deputies seek public’s help identifying mail theft suspects

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying two people suspected of mail theft in the Ridgefield area.

A man and woman were captured on camera stealing from a mailbox and are suspected in other mail thefts, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

Vancouver riverwalk ranks in top 15 in nation

Vancouver’s waterfront is one of the best pedestrian attractions of its kind in the country, according to a recent ranking from a high-profile travel website.

Earlier this month, Fodor’s Travel listed the cities with the 15 best riverwalks in America. Vancouver’s new waterfront development came in at No. 13.
