Letter: Where is the left’s outrage?

The silence on the left in response to the moral disaster that is the withdrawal from Afghanistan is deafening. The same people that expressed endless outrage over crude and belligerent tweets by the former president apparently have no moral outrage for American children left behind enemy lines, broken promises to Afghans who helped us, or even to the service dogs left on the tarmac to die.

Democrats have always seen themselves as the party of compassion, so why are they suddenly so indifferent to the plight of the American women and children we left behind?

The reason is obvious. It is a dedication to party above all else. Biden must be supported at all costs or else Donald Trump is somehow winning. Blue good, red bad; tribalism at its worst. So, in spite of the Trump fanatics, most Democrats are now worshiping their party even above their stated ideals.

Ironically, the two groups are actually cut from the same worshipful cloth, two sides of the same fanatical coin.

Unfortunately, this worship of men always produces hypocrisy and an abandonment of core values and morals. Keeping in lockstep with the party demands perfect allegiance and an emptying of one’s self.
