Letter: Health care lobby controls Olympia

Thank you for publishing the letter about health care in Washington. The fact that the health care lobby has so much influence in Olympia means that some Washington residents are trying to survive with no health care coverage, and many more with very expensive and poor coverage. In fact most Washington residents are paying far too much for too little coverage.

Multiple studies, including one that Washington taxpayers paid for, all agree that a single-payer system will save lives and money for everyone. But the health care committee chairs ignored a bill that would have met the recommendations of the study. They instead kicked the solution down the road at least five years and probably indefinitely. The health care lobby gives millions to top Democrats in Olympia. The failure of Gov. Jay Inslee’s public option should be investigated.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
