Letter: Scripture doesn’t call for exemptions

As a Christian, I was dismayed to read of two Pierce County churches offering workshops on how to claim the religious exemption to the state vaccine mandate.

Nowhere in my daily Bible reading have I seen anything about demanding our individual rights. Repeatedly, throughout Scripture, are admonitions to love one another, including our neighbors and yes, even our enemies. What better expression of selfless love than to be vaccinated against spreading a deadly disease? There may be some religion that would exempt a person from vaccinations, but it’s not Christianity.
