Letter: Work together on COVID response

First I’m not at all anti-vaccination. However, I’m also against hypocrisy.

We are admonished to follow science. Unfortunately in today’s world, only one point of view can be correct. The science that does not fulfill the narrative being pushed by our media or politicians must be suppressed, censored or labeled conspiracy. Mandating arbitrarily that most everyone that has a job must be vaccinated or lose their job does not work. One size does not fit all.

I, for one, had COVID-19 last year. I had an antibody test in December 2020. I had a positive antibody test. I just had another test last week confirming I still have antibodies. I do not have COVID-19. Why should I get a shot at this time? Why should other workers that have had COVID get vaccinated?

Let’s start by asking a few questions. How many people hospitalized today had COVID in the past compared to the vaccinated? Why are we forcing parents to make unreasonable decisions concerning their child’s welfare on a vaccine that does not have enough time to know the long-term effects? How many children that had no health issues have died from COVID? Isn’t it time to quit the division-style politics and work together to come to the best conclusions?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
