Police are investigating recent break-ins at two east Vancouver stores, both of which captured the burglars on camera.

Mommy & Me Resale, 316 S.E. 123rd Ave., #D8, and Champ Pizza, 1900 N.E. 162nd Ave., #D-113, both shared in Facebook posts that the stores were burglarized over the weekend.

A man entered Sunshine Laundry next-door to Mommy & Me Resale between 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 a.m. Sunday and tunneled a hole through the businesses’ dividing wall, according to Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp.

“There was quite a bit stolen and a substantial amount of damage done. We also believe at least one package ready for shipment was taken, and we’re working to figure out whose order it was,” the store said in a Facebook post.

The burglar left through a side door, Kapp said in an email.

The store’s video surveillance captured the burglar and aided police in lifting prints, the store said in its post.

“That’s not a guarantee to catching him, though, so we’re asking for your help sharing these photos so maybe we have a shot at finding this guy,” the store said.

In its Facebook post, Champ Pizza said it was burglarized around 1 a.m. Monday. Kapp said police were dispatched at 10:35 a.m. to the reported burglary.

“It appears the suspect broke into a lock box containing a key to the business, entered, and stole money and other valuables,” she said.

Champ Pizza said the burglar took money from the till and tips, as well as equipment.

“We will be contributing back to our team members’ tip money as they deserve it and don’t deserve to be robbed,” the Facebook post reads.

Kapp said it is unknown if the break-in is related to other commercial burglaries. Police are investigating.

Both businesses asked anyone with information about the burglaries to contact the police department.
