Washougal police seek suspect in attempted kidnapping of 13-year-old girl

Washougal police are looking for a suspect in an attempted kidnapping of a teenage girl reported Monday.

According to police, a 13-year-old girl was walking home in the 300 block of Sixth Street in Washougal when a man began to chase her. The man attempted to grab the teen, but she was able to get away and make it home. Police responded about 7:30 p.m. but are still looking for the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 40 years old and 5 feet, 10 inches tall. At the time of the kidnapping attempt, the suspect was wearing a black Seahawks beanie-style hat, a dark brown jacket and blue pants. He was carrying a backpack with a small American flag attached. No photos of the suspect were available.

Anyone with information that may help identify the suspect is asked to contact the Washougal Police Department at 311.
