Union’s Jade Gruher shot a 2-under-par 69 to beat Annika Yeh of Mountain View for medalist honors, but it was not quite enough to keep the Thunder from taking the team title at the Cowlitz Invitational girls golf tournament at Mint Valley Golf Course in Longview.

Yeh shot a 75 to lead Mountain View to team total of 413, two strokes better than second-place Union. Woodland was third at 428.

Hockinson’s Grace Phillips was third at 88, followed by Woodland’s Zoe Jouwsma (90) and Hockinson’s Haley Saeman (92).

King leads Thunder

Bri King hit a two-run home run in the first inning, then the pitcher — with the help of a solid defense behind her — made that stand up for a 2-1 win over Prairie in a 3A Greater St. Helens League softball game on Wednesday. It was Prairie’s first league loss.
