Letter: Punch back against Moscow

By Den Mark Wichar, Vancouver

Sitting alone at the end of a long table in Moscow, with sycophants nearby, sits a dangerous punk with the most punchable face on the planet. His barbaric invasion of Ukraine has shocked decent people everywhere. Not only has his cowardly so-called “army” committed disgusting violence against brave civilians, including children, but that unhinged violence has disrupted food and energy supplies around the world.

How to punch that punk, from a distance? One way is to use our fuel supply carefully. Wasting it is not patriotic, and flattens our wallets. The current high cost of gasoline is not President Biden’s fault. It is the fault of that punk in Moscow, and of the greediness of tax-subsidized oil companies, who do not need more permits to pump. They already have massive access to drilling sites that they are not using.

While driving, when we coast to red lights instead of accelerating toward them, when we keep tires inflated, when we have clean air filters, when our engines are tuned, when we cut back on speed, when we combine trips, when we ride-share, when we walk or use bikes when reasonable, when we pick economical cars in the first place, when we do these things, we throw a punch against that punk in Moscow.
