It was exciting to read about Alexia Bravo and her very positive experience with her studies of space (“Star pupil: Union junior interns alongside NASA scientists, engineers,” The Columbian, Aug. 1). We are very lucky in Vancouver to have young adults like her. We are really lucky to have teachers in the school system like Mr. Schmierer and Ms. Burris that have the talent and ability to excite their students about learning and to encourage them to greater goals.
I have personally witnessed this at Fircrest Elementary School with teachers that my grandson has had there. We need to be thankful and support those teachers and students that make our community the greatest. Congratulations to Alexia, you have our support.
