Letter: Firefighters thank voters

By Brennan Blue, fire chief, Vancouver Fire Department, Jennifer Bethke, district administrator, Clark County Fire District 5
Published: August 10, 2022, 6:00am

We want to thank the community for their support of Clark County Fire District 5’s fire levy lid lift in the Aug. 2 primary election. Thanks to your support, Fire District 5 will now have sustainable funding that will support the hiring of three additional firefighters, including a paramedic, at the new Station 11 that will serve the Orchards-Sifton area beginning this fall.

Additionally, several more emergency response units will be added to serve the greater Vancouver community over the next 18 to 24 months. These new positions will help us cover growing demand for services and improve response times across the district.

We would also like to thank our firefighters for sharing information about our first voter-approved funding request in 30 years. Labor, management and our board of fire commissioners are a team, and we want residents to know that.

We’re proud to serve the community and grateful for your support. We’ll continue to share information with you and report back when we make progress on these service improvements.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
