Evergreen grad Zyell Griffin finds end zone for UNLV

Zyell Griffin helped UNLV football open its season with a winning hand.

The receiver from Evergreen High caught a 14-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter of a 52-21 win over Idaho State on Saturday in Las Vegas. Griffin, a junior, had two catches for 23 yards.

The touchdown is Griffin’s third in 15 games with the Rebels. He’s one of the team’s best deep-ball threats, averaging 20 yards per catch over his career.

Griffin, who started four games last season, was named to the 2020 and ’21 Academic All-Mountain West Teams.

Here’s how other collegiate football players from Clark County fared. Note: A blank entry means the player did not appear on the game participation report or team didn’t play last week.
