Letter: Concrete barrier is misplaced

During the past months the workers who have been rebuilding S.E. First Street have been doing a great job. Every day the area’s residents can see the improvements regardless of construction delays.

All that came to a halt when this week they placed a concrete barrier between the east and west lanes in front of the driveway of Cascade Park Village. This park’s requirement of being 55 or older probably caused the construction designers to figure old people don’t do well making left turns so we will restrict them to right turns only. It doesn’t seem to matter that emergency vehicles will be delayed because direction requirements for entering the park have been extended, since they cannot turn left into the park when coming off 164th avenue.
