Letter: Greed fuels recount fever

The votes have all been counted and no surprise, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez won the election. Voters learned this several weeks ago. When the first announcement of the outcome was made, I told my wife that without a doubt Joe Kent would demand a recount. The drive behind this is twofold: First, to push hard the false beliefs that our election system does not work correctly anymore; second, Kent needs to have the money needed to pay for said recount. Where will this money come from? Where else, but donations from his supporters, of course.

This brings to light the main reasons for all of the recounts that have been done lately by Republicans. That reason is for all to see: greed! The donations will come in for Kent’s recount, of this I have no doubt, and one of two outcomes will come about: First, not enough donations come in to pay for said recount; second, the recount happens if the funds come in.

Either way, the real point for all of this to happen is there in the open for all to see. The money Kent gets to pocket, whether he gets enough to pay for recount or not. The sad part is, numerous people who need what money they have for living expenses will donate and go without something that is needed. One word describes the recount trend in America … greed.
