Prep basketball: Demaree Collins scores 28 to lead Skyview boys over King’s Way Christian 78-64

Demaree Collins scored 28 points and hit six of seven 3-pointers to lead the Skyview boys basketball team to a 78-64 non-league win over visiting King’s Way Christian.

Skyview (2-0) used a 22-9 third-quarter advantage to open up a 63-41 lead.

Gavin Perdue scored 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, and freshman Malakai Weimer added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Storm.

Giovanny Evanson had 27 to lead King’s Way (1-1), and Jamison Duke added 16.

Boys basketball

W.F. WEST 46, RIDGEFIELD 39 — Colten Castro 16 points, but Ridgefield was unable to keep up with W.F. West down the stretch.

W.F. West led 23-15 at halftime, but Castro scored 10 points in the third quarter as the Spudders got tied the game 30-30.

But Ridgefield was unable to overtake the Bearcats.

SETON CATHOLIC 54, HUDSON’S BAY 44 — Rico George scored 18 points, and Jack Jenniges added 12 to lead Seton to a non-league road win.

Lance Lee added 10 points for Seton, which built a 50-31 lead after three quarters.

Anthony Garces-Armstrong, Rafael Bauman and Joey Roeper each scored eight points for Bay.

Girls basketball

WAHKIAKUM 46, LA CENTER 38 — Shaela Bradley had 10 points, nine assists and six steals, but it wasn’t enough for the Wildcats, who fell to 0-4 on the season.

“At least we were in this game, so that’s good,” La Center coach Herm VanWeerdhuizen said, noting La Center’s last two games were lopsided. “It kind of got away from us in the third quarter.”

Wahkiakum used a 14-7 edge in the third quarter to open a 31-26 lead.

Mekenzie Schokelt added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats.

SETON CATHOLIC 68, COLUMBIA ADVENTIST 11 — Seton Catholic jumped out to a 44-2 lead after one quarter and rolled to a non-league win.

Riley Seymer led the Cougars with 14 points. Anna Mooney added 12, and Keirra Williams and Hanna Jo Hammerstrom had 10 each.

UNION 58, COLUMBIA RIVER 36 — Freshman Brooklynn Haywood hit five 3-pointers and scored 35 points to lead the Titans to a non-league.

Emma Iniguez led River with 17 points.
