Letter: Kent displays selfishness

So, Joe Kent is grifting donations to pay for a vote recount that history tells us will have no effect on the certified result. A majority of voters in Washington’s 3rd Congressional District chose Marie Gluesenkamp Perez as their representative. She is the winner; Kemp is the loser. Yet Kemp selfishly disagrees with these voters, who he would be charged with representing had he prevailed in the election.

Thus, he is demanding a recount. Temporary elections workers will be pulled in to spend numerous hours working on the recount just before Christmas, the day Christians celebrate the birth of the selfless Savior. These workers will give up time spent with family and time to prepare for this beautiful holiday to satisfy the selfish prodding of one man. They will work diligently, knowing all the while that Kent has impugned their integrity over the past year. Additionally, these temporary workers — many of them seniors — will be commuting to work in the middle of December. As any longtime resident of the area knows, the weather and road conditions can be treacherous at this time.

Obviously, Joe Kent’s ego leaves no room for self-reflection regarding the fool’s errand he is on.
