Letter: Be cautious at 39th and Columbia

I don’t know the reason behind removing the stoplight at 39th and Columbia and replacing it with four stop signs. I suspect it was done to improve traffic flow. I’m all for that, but I wish more could be done to improve safety. Perhaps because the physical stoplight is still hanging and not flashing to indicate drivers should stop, a number of vehicles blow through the intersection. Twice this month I could have been T-boned if I hadn’t had a tingly sense of impending doom. I kept my foot on the brake while drivers shot through without slowing down even to the posted speed limit.
