Between the chaos of winter storms and holiday preparations, some Clark County residents might be wondering where they can get a free meal this weekend. Several individuals and organizations in Vancouver are providing holiday meals available to anyone in need.

Similar to their Thanksgiving undertaking, retired Judge Rich Melnick and Beaches restaurateur Mark Matthias are serving a traditional holiday dinner open to all from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 25. Meals can be picked up or eaten on-site at 915 W. Evergreen Blvd., Vancouver, across from the former fire station. There is limited seating, and to-go dinners are limited to one per person present.

“My parents raised me to believe that we all have an obligation to give back to the community,” Melnick said. “These meals are one small way to fulfill that duty to make our world better.”

Melnick and Matthias are also coordinating delivery to senior and veteran facilities, shelters and other places with at least 20 occupants. For more information, email beaches1995@outlook.com or call Beaches at 360-699-1592.

Share is serving a free holiday breakfast from 9-9:30 a.m. on Sunday featuring herb-brined pork chops, scrambled eggs, strawberry French toast, fruit, hot cocoa and coffee. To-go dinner boxes courtesy of Beaches Restaurant & Bar will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each box will include ham or turkey, a vegetable side, stuffing and mashed potatoes.

Share also serves daily hot free meals Monday through Friday, including 8:30-9 a.m. breakfast, 1-1:30 p.m. lunch and 5-5:30 p.m. dinner, as well as weekend meals from 9-9:30 a.m. and 3:30-4 p.m. Meals are served at 1115 W. 13th St., Vancouver, with to-go options available and are open to all with no reservations needed.

Live Love Outreach Center at 2711 N.E. Andresen Road, Vancouver, will be open from 1:30-4 p.m. on Christmas Day with meals and a place to hang out. The center is open Sunday afternoons and from 5-7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays. If you are interested in volunteering, call 360-944-3905 or email livelove@livinghopechurch.com.
