Boys basketball: Battle Ground advances to Fort bracket final at Fort Vancouver Holiday Classic

Tait Spencer scored 32 points and Trey Spencer added 14 points as the Battle Ground boys basketball team routed Weed (Calif.) 80-41 on Thursday to reach the championship game of the Fort bracket at the Fort Vancouver Holiday Classic.

The Tigers will face Kamiak in the Fort bracket championship game at 6 p.m. Friday.

Tait Spencer scored 14 points in the first quarter, and Trey Spencer added 11 as Battle Ground jumped out to a 34-14 lead that the Tigers pushed to 54-19 by halftime.

EVERGREEN 66, YELM 53 — Dez Daniel led four Plainsmen in double figures as Evergreen earned third place at the T-Town Throwdown in Tacoma.

Landon Rayner scored 13 points, and Quincy Caston had 11 for Evergreen. Arthur Ban had five of his 10 points in the fourth quarter as Evergreen pulled away.

UNION 73, VISTA (Calif.) 46 — Yanni Fassillis and Evan Manville scored 23 points each as the Titans breezed into the fifth-place game of the Senators Bracket of the Torrey Pines (Calif.) Holiday Classic.

Union will play College Park (Texas) at 5:25 p.m. Friday.

Manville hit five 3-pointers and scored 20 of his 23 points in the first half as Union built a 38-23 halftime lead. Fassillis scored 16 in the first half.

KENTRIDGE 68, CAMAS 60 — After rallying from a big early deficit, Camas ran out of gas in the fourth quarter in a non-league road game.

Kentridge jumped out a 21-4 lead after one quarter. But a 27-point third quarter by Camas gave the Papermakers a 52-51 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Beckett Currie led Camas with 19 points. Theo McMillan scored 14 and Jamison Carlisle added 11.

CALDERA (Ore.) 57, LA CENTER 56 — Austin Nixon had 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Wildcats, who lost on a rebound basket at the buzzer at the Oregon Holiday Hoopfest in Bend, Ore.

Caldera ralled from a 46-39 deficit in the fourth quarter to win, aided by poor free-throw shooting by La Center. The Wildcats made two of seven free throws in the fourth quarter and went 12 of 25 for the game.

Colby Hylton added 12 points, and Jayce Grotte had 10 for the Wildcats, who will face Ridgeview of Redmond, Ore., on Friday.

LIBERTY (Ore.) 79, FORT VANCOUVER 54 — The Trappers will play Heritage in the seventh-place game of the Fort bracket at the Fort Vancouver Holiday Classic. No other details were reported.

MOSES LAKE 74, HERITAGE 43 — Heritage will look to snap a three-game losing streak in the seventh-place game Friday against Fort Vancouver.

R.A. LONG 51, DE LA SALLE NORTH CATHOLIC 48 — The Lumberjacks advanced to the finals of the Trapper bracket at the Fort Vancouver Holiday Classic.

MARK MORRIS 72, SELAH 71 — Kobe Parlin scored 23 points and Braydon Olson added 13 at the SunDome Shootout in Yakima.
