Clark basketball teams sweep Mt. Hood

For the first time in NWAC South division play this season, both the Clark College men’s and women’s basketball teams came out victorious on the same day.

The Clark women opened the Wednesday doubleheader by winning their second game out of their last three, beating Mt. Hood 65-55 at the O’Connell Sports Center.

The Clark men followed with a 90-88 win over the Saints to end a three-game skid.

The Clark women (7-15, 3-8 NWAC South) used a 21-6 third quarter to pull away from the Saints (4-16, 2-10) after trailing 36-23 at halftime.

Chyna Finley led three Clark players in double figures with 21 points. Chloe Wright had a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Maggie Spencer scored 13 points.

In the men’s game, Clark (12-11, 5-6) took the lead for good at 87-84 on Sean Johnson’s 3-pointer with 1:35 to play. Rodwens Albert kept the lead at three by making a shot with 5 seconds remaining.

Johnson finished with 30 points, and Albert had 29. Liam Clark added a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Clark travels to Eugene to play Lane on Saturday.
