Letter: Support Kent for Congress

The most accurate pollster of the 2021 New Jersey and Virginia governors’ races, Trafalgar Group, has polled Washington’s 3rd Congressional District for the third time since last summer. The results from Trafalgar have been consistent: Joe Kent is the only Republican challenger to Jaime Herrera Beutler who stands a chance. He sits at 25 percent and has a three-point lead on the congresswoman despite the ridiculous attacks coming at him from Heidi St. John. Heidi is polling in fourth place at a measly 11 percent despite her recent saturation of the airwaves. Vicki Kraft, the state legislator, is far behind the pack at 4 percent.

The poll numbers show Vicki and Heidi cannot win, and to be frank their résumés do not compare to the candidate who wrote advisory papers for the Trump administration after serving in our nation’s most elite special forces units. The Republican Party is on the cusp of a major ideological shift. There is an opportunity now to purge the neoconservative corporate crooks and replace them with real fighters for the American working class.

If Heidi St. John and Vicki Kraft truly want to put America first, most especially Washington’s 3rd Congressional District, they should drop out and support Joe Kent, the only candidate who can defeat Jaime Herrera Beutler.
