By , Columbian Features Editor

A robbery at a central Vancouver convenience store Saturday led to a chase across state lines and an arrest by Portland police.

At 4:48 p.m., officers responded to a robbery at 24 Hour Food Mart at the corner of Fourth Plain and Grand boulevards, according to a media release from the Vancouver Police Department. The suspect displayed a gun, robbed the store and fled in a car. As Vancouver police chased the car, the suspect fired at an officer near Northeast 86th Avenue and Burton Road but missed.

No officers were hurt, but they recovered a gun the suspect pitched during the chase.

The chase ended in Portland at Northeast 33rd Avenue and Broadway, where police used their vehicles to block the fleeing car. Portland police arrested the suspect, who is being held in Multnomah County and will be extradited to Clark County on suspicion of first-degree robbery and first-degree attempted homicide.

The investigation is ongoing.
