Letter: Neighborhood like a war zone

It’s another event to spend hundreds of dollars on Chinese gun powder. Our neighborhood is like a war zone and it started a little after 6 p.m., our dogs shaking and panting for 3½ hours, and we’d get to enjoy it till 1 a.m. if people follow the rules.

I find it funny that with so many people out of work, so many can afford fireworks. Thank God for the government extending unemployment and rental extensions. What’s going on in our country? Donate that money to people who are really struggling in life. We do too much for the many that abuse the system. We need to start looking out for one another and show some compassion so we can all live better lives.

On another note, there’s other ways to generate money for clubs and such besides these barrages of noise and nuisance, and most don’t clean up their mess.
