Letter: Republicans ignore facts

I’m convinced the “Grand Old Party” isn’t grand anymore. They’re an embarrassment to our political system. Three of our Washington state representatives attended a symposium by MyPillow CEO and snake oil salesman Mike Lindell, who promised to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the 2020 election was stolen from our former president. The symposium turned into a big lie.

And a year after the Capitol insurrection, over half of Republicans in office still believe the riot wasn’t violent. Where were these GOP lawmakers Jan. 6? Were they watching the soap operas like “Days of Our Lives” or “As the World Turns” in the basement of the Capitol building? Their excuses for not believing how serious the threat to our democracy was on that day are more big lies from a party that claimed the 2020 election was a big lie. Isn’t it time to face the facts?
