Runners and walkers are invited to participate in the eighth annual Race for Warmth. The $30 registration fee will go to Operation Warm Heart, which helps people in need pay their utility bill.

“Operation Warm Heart has been a lifeline for thousands of people over the years, but it has been especially vital during the pandemic,” said Maxie Mayer, Clark Public Utilities marketing & events specialist. The event is hosted by the utility. “You can just hear the relief in the customer’s voice when we tell them they qualify.”

This year’s event will be held virtually from Friday through Sunday, with 5K and 10K participants allowed to run, walk or roll whatever route they choose.

“When people join the Race for Warmth they’re helping families in crisis pay their energy bills,” Mayer said. Participants will receive a performance shirt, a participation medal, bib number and a drawstring race bag filled with gifts and coupons from local businesses. Racers can also pay an additional $5 to register an animal running companion, who will get their own racing bandana.
