Grow with it

NatureScaping of Southwest Washington will host “Happy Houseplants,” a free Zoom webinar from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Nicole Forbes from Dennis 7 Dees Garden Center will showcase favorite indoor plants, discuss seasonal care tips, answer questions and offer expert advice for growing happy houseplants. The event is free but donations are welcome. For details and to register, visit naturescaping.org, email marlene52ns@gmail.com or call 360-737-1160.

Warm up

The eighth annual Race for Warmth is happening Friday through Sunday in locations around Clark County. Run any time you choose over the weekend at one of 13 routes. Registration is $30 and all proceeds benefit Clark Public Utilities’ Operation Warm Heart, helping families in need pay their heating bills. Participants receive goodie bags, shirts and medals. Pets can participate for an extra $5. Register at www.raceforwarmth.com.

The sound of music

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s Chamber Music Series welcomes Rodney Sauer for a showing of the Dolores Del Rio romantic tragedy “Ramona” at the Kiggins Theatre, 1011 Main St., Vancouver, at 7 tonight. The 1928 silent film will be accompanied by live music as it would have been heard in the theaters of the 1920s. Attendees must be vaccinated. Tickets are $25 or $10 for students at vancouversymphony.org or 360-735-7278.

A new twist

Downstage Center Productions presents “Ro and Jo: A Tale of Woe,” a twist on “Romeo and Juliet,” at noon and 6 p.m. Saturday at the Red Cross Building, 605 Barnes St., Vancouver. Attendees must be vaccinated. Purchase tickets ($15) or register to see the recorded performance at www.downstagecenter.org. The recorded performance will be part of the Fertile Ground Festival at 7 p.m. Feb. 1, 2, 3 and 4 and at noon and 4 p.m. Feb. 5 and 6.

Fun with frogs

Clark Conservation District is hosting three in-person workshops about Clark County’s native amphibians, their preferred habitats and relation to stormwater. Learn to identify native amphibians and create better habitats. The first workshop is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, Vancouver. Additional workshops are Feb. 5 and March 5. Register at clarkcd.org/amphibian or email staff@clarkcd.org.
