Letter: Kudos to local museums

Having moved here last year from Virginia, I am not a local, but I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Two Rivers Heritage Museum in Washougal last September and was reminded of it through Lauren Ellenbecker’s article, “Two Rivers Museum is a little-known trove of Clark County history” (The Columbian, Jan. 23).

Local didn’t mean boring to someone who didn’t recognize faces in pictures. Small didn’t mean a limited number of exhibits. There were many, yet I didn’t feel overwhelmed by displays full of artifacts. It is a valuable resource to locals, newcomers and visitors, as is another small museum with big things, North Clark Historical Museum in Amboy. I’ve yet to visit the La Center Historical Museum, but I’m sure I won’t be disappointed.

Kudos to the volunteers and community members who made it a priority to establish and maintain these treasure troves.
