A 24-year-old man was arrested in Fairview, Ore., this week in connection with the August death of Stephanie Celeste Jones, according to Vancouver police.

Avreaunte E. Bennett is in Clackamas County Jail awaiting extradition to Clark County on suspicion of second-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

Jones’ body was found at Rooster Rock State Park in Oregon on Aug. 13.

Detectives from the Oregon State Police and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into her death, which they determined to be a homicide. They asked Vancouver police to help after they determined the murder occurred in Vancouver. Investigators then searched two homes in Vancouver, one which Jones shared with Bennett, her boyfriend.

On Thursday, detectives from the Vancouver Police Department and the other agencies searched a home in Fairview, where they found Bennett and arrested him on unrelated charges.
