Humanities Washington, the state affiliate for the National Endowment for the Humanities, has awarded five grants to Clark County nonprofits.

The grants, known as Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan grants, are funded by the American Rescue Plan via the National Endowment for the Humanities. They aim to support Washington nonprofits that provide humanities programming and that are facing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vancouver National Historic Reserve Trust, Confluence, Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation and the Clark County Historical Society all received $10,000 grants. Music Fusian NW received a $7,500 grant.

Statewide, $1.02 million was provided to more than 122 organizations with grants ranging from $2,500 to $15,000 per organization. The funding supports general operating costs and special projects.

“The cultural sector in our state has shown great resiliency during the pandemic, but we cannot forget how deeply it was affected,” Julie Ziegler, CEO of Humanities Washington, said in a news release. “We are honored to be able to support this important but fragile sector as we begin to rebuild.”
