Ridgefield returns home Tuesday against Bellingham

Three Yakima Valley pitchers held Ridgefield to just three hits on Sunday as the Pippins took two out of three games in the series at Yakima County Stadium. The Raptors had won their last five West Coast League series.

KEY MOMENTS: The Raptors took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Riley McCarthy scored on a sacrifice fly by Alex Sepulveda. Doyle Kane then scored on an error. … Yakima Valley scored four runs in the third inning to take a 5-2 lead. Two runs scored with two outs when Spencer Marenco singled on a play that also included a Ridgefield error.

KEY PLAYERS: Ridgefield’s Jeter Schuerman pitched two innings in relief, allowing one unearned run an lowering his ERA to 2.45. … Doyle Kane extended his hit streak to six games, going 1 for 4. The Raptors outfielder is hitting .362. … Pippins starting pitcher Julian Taudin-Chabot allowed just one hit over six innings, striking out three and walking four.

UP NEXT: Bellingham (21-8 overall) at Ridgefield (17-12 overall) at Yakima Valley (11-21), 6:35 p.m. Tuesday in the opener of a three-game series.
