A 28-year-old motorcyclist died in a Hazel Dell crash Friday evening.

Avery J. Marshall of Vancouver was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, which responded to the crash at about 7:15 p.m., along with American Medical Response and Clark County Fire District 6.

Marshall was driving a 2005 Yamaha YZFR motorcycle eastbound on Northeast 99th Street when it crashed into a 2015 Toyota Highlander utility vehicle driven by Sandra Barajas Martinez, 42, of Vancouver, according to the sheriff’s office. The SUV was turning from northbound 21st Place onto westbound 99th Street.

Martinez cooperated with investigators. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit is investigating further, but believes excessive speed was a contributing factor.
