An excessive heat warning goes into effect for the Vancouver area and much of Clark County, along with the Columbia River Gorge and the Portland area, at noon today.

According the the National Weather Service in Portland, the heat warning will remain in effect through 9 p.m. Thursday.

Clark County can expect temperatures of 98 to 103 degrees.

“The hottest temperatures are expected Tuesday and Wednesday. Considerable uncertainty surrounds temperatures on Thursday. Overnight lows spanning 65 to 70 in the Portland/Vancouver Metro will provide little relief for those without air conditioning,” NWS Portland said in the warning.

The heat significantly increases the chances of heat-related illnesses if working outdoors or participating in outdoor activities.

Clark County Public Health advises people to drink plenty of fluids, avoid strenuous activities outdoors and do not leave children, pets or older people in parked cars in the heat. Get more information about heat-related signs and symptoms at the website.

A list of cooling centers in Clark County can be found on the CRESA website.
