Letter: What the Constitution really says

Why is it that no one, especially the Supreme Court, knows what is in the Constitution? The few words that are not remembered are: Gun ownership is to be with a well-regulated militia.

Other than the National Guard, there are no well-ordered militia. To a literal person, this should be a clear definition. Weapons of war are intended to kill the most people in the shortest amount of time. No hunter could ever use this type of gun; the game would be turned into hamburger.

Furthermore, the Constitution says that anyone who is born or naturalized is a citizen. Don’t any educated people know that an embryo or fetus has not been born?

These are not babies at this stage. One can hardly tell the difference between a human embryo or that of a chicken. This total lack of science and medicine only reveals the ignorance of a pro-life person.

The other astonishing thing that these people do not recognize is the future costs to the populace. Many of these mothers may already have too many children and not enough income to support or nurture them. Often these families become dependent on welfare, which many people and the government don’t want to offer in assistance.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
