Letter: Amendment designed for muskets

Politicians want to control everything nowadays. They want to control women’s rights to have control of their own bodies, but yet they do nothing about automatic guns. Apparently bringing a child into the world and then having him or her shot in a school or a church or a store is a totally different thing.

My children are grown up now and as a grandparent I think about how old I’ll be when our grandchildren turn 18 or if I’ll be alive to see them graduate or get married and have kids themselves. Maybe I’ll be gunned down at a store or at a theater.

The Second Amendment wasn’t designed for assault-rifle guns; they had muskets. It would be pretty hard to have a mass shooting unless you had a bag of muskets preloaded and you know that wouldn’t happen. There are so many sides nowadays; can’t we try to end this once and for all? For our children and our children’s children and for ourselves. Please.
