Letter: City looks cheap

I am curious as to why Vancouver does such a poor job in maintaining the public areas in the city. The potholes are terrible and seldom repaired and the weeds along many of the major roadways look junglelike. It’s no wonder I heard a real estate expert in Portland say the cheapest homes in the Portland metro area are in Gresham, Ore., and Vancouver.
