HUDSON’S BAY — Engineering, designing, and building a nonmotorized parade float can take weeks of preparation for just one evening of fun. The nonprofit group Vancouver Stage and Arts nailed, glued, taped and attached lights to a rolling green, purple and gold entry in the North Mississippi Avenue 2022 Mardi Gras Parade, held March 1 in Portland.

The group also showed off its entry with a Feb. 27 dress rehearsal along the bike path between East Fifth Street and Officers Row.
