Heritage High School has hired Chase Smith as its new varsity head football coach, Heritage athletic director Jason Castro announced Tuesday.

Smith takes over for Moody, who led the Timberwolves for three seasons and posted a 7-18 record. Smith is the eighth head coach at Heritage since its opening in 1999.

Smith has served as an assistant football coach since 2015 under both Moody and Matt Gracey.

Smith works as a game design/computer science teacher at Heritage. He has also worked as an assistant basketball coach, and he launched and led Heritage’s e-sports program the past three years.
