CASCADE SOUTH EAST — Every February, the 120 U.S. chapters of Assistance League participate in ACTION! Week to celebrate the birthday of founder Anne Banning. Each chapter devises its own plan to help local children.

In February 2020, Assistance League Southwest Washington collected new books at several donation sites and had four locations ready to receive them. Local volunteers delivered some to Innovative Services NW and Larch Mountain Corrections Center. After COVID-19 hit, the undelivered books were stored at a member’s home.

On Feb. 23, the rest of the books were finally delivered to Open House Ministries and YWCA SafeChoice, both in Vancouver.

Despite the challenges, Assistance League is excited to say, “Mission finally accomplished!”
