A Vancouver man was sentenced Monday to two years in federal prison for failing to register as a sex offender after moving to South Dakota.

Aidan Gianni Carl Bratt, 21, pleaded guilty in December after he was indicted by a federal grand jury in August, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release.

Bratt was convicted of a sex offense in Washington and moved to South Dakota in October 2020, the news release states. The Department of Justice said he failed to register as a sex offender between Oct. 11, 2020, and Jan. 12, 2021. He did not change his address within three days in South Dakota or Washington, as required by law.

He was immediately taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service, according to the news release. He will also serve five years of supervised release and pay a $100 fine to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
