Prep Highlights: Battle Ground softball rallies for win

Tigers score five runs in the sixth inning to improve to 10-1

Emma Elliott hit a three-run double, then Candice Adams homered as Battle Ground softball used a five-run sixth inning to beat Evergreen 8-5 on Tuesday in Battle Ground.

Adams also hit a two-run triple in the bottom of the third. She went 3 for 4 with four RBI.

Elliott also went 3 for 4 as Battle Ground improved to 10-1.

Evergreen (6-2) scored three runs in the fifth to take a 5-3 lead. The Plainsmen scored twice with two outs, thanks to an error and a Kadence Burleson RBI single.

Stars of the day

  • Makani Geisen, King’s Way Christian baseball, struck out 15 and walked none over seven innings in a 5-3 win over Columbia-White Salmon. He then went 3 for 5 with four RBI and three runs scored as the Knights completed a doubleheader sweep 17-3.
  • Annika Yeh, Mountain View girls golf, scored 29 of her team’s 70 points in a Stableford scoring match victory against Battle Ground at Fairway Village.
  • Grace Phillips, Hockinson girls golf, shot 2-over 37, the lowest round in a match against Woodland at Fairway Village.
  • Sabrina Joner, La Center girls golf, shot 3-over 38 at Tri-Mountain, the low round in a victory over Ilwaco.
  • Ellie Forster, Camas softball, went 2 for 3 with two doubles and five RBI in a 8-2 win over Heritage.
  • Jade Gruher, Union girls golf, scored a match-high 36 points in the Stableford format (shooting an even-par 36) at Camas Meadows as the Titans beat Prairie and Heritage.
  • Lucas Peterson, Seton Catholic baseball, went a combined 5 for 8 with six RBI as the Cougars swept a doubleheader over Castle Rock, 10-8 and 10-7.
  • Shaela Bradley, La Center girls track and field, won the 200 meters and the long jump and helped the 400 and 1,600 relay teams to victory as the Wildcats won a Trico League meet at Seton Catholic.
  • Jamie Maas, Washougal girls track and field, won the 400 meters, the 800 and helped the 1,600 relay team to victory as the Panthers won a meet against R.A. Long and Fort Vancouver.
