Prep Highlights: Columbia River boys soccer finishes 2A GSHL domination

Alex Harris scored four goals as Columbia River boys soccer beat R.A. Long 8-0 to conclude a perfect 2A Greater St. Helens League season.

The Rapids outscored opponents 96-2 in 16 league matches. The Rapids (17-0-0) are No. 1 in the WIAA’s RPI rankings for Class 2A statewide.

Columbia River will open postseason play on Tuesday, hosting a district match against the winner of a play-in game between GSHL No. 5 seed Washougal and the No. 4 seed from the Evergreen Conference.

With Fort Vancouver’s 1-0 win over Hudson’s Bay on Thursday, the Trappers are the 2A GSHL’s No. 2 seed.

Ridgefield beat Hockinson in a penalty kick shootout Thursday. The Spudders are the No. 3 seed headed into districts, one point behind Fort Vancouver.

Woodland wrapped up the No. 4 seed with a 4-1 win over Mark Morris.

Stars of the day

  • Noah Pilling, Evergreen baseball, went 3 for 3 and singled home the go-ahead run in the sixth inning of a 4-3 win over Barlow.
  • Adam Deeney and Chris Parkin, Columbia River baseball, each drove in three runs in a 11-0 win over Fort Vancouver. The Rapids can win the 2A GSHL title outright with a win over R.A. Long on Friday.
  • David Moore, Seton Catholic boys soccer, had a goal and two assists in a 3-0 win over Columbia-White Salmon as the Cougars finished the Trico League season 10-0-0.
  • Ronan Mertz, La Center boys soccer, scored two goals in a 6-0 win over Stevenson.
