Letter: Act to save salmon

Re: “Columbia River ‘at tipping point,’ warns longtime conservation leader” (Columbia Insight, May 8): A recent poll showed a widespread majorities of voters in Washington support a plan to remove dams on the Snake River. The plan for removal would prevent salmon extinction, along with accompanying investment in agriculture, energy and transportation.

As a citizen of Oregon, I, too, am awaiting announcement from Gov. Jay Inslee and Sen. Patty Murray to fulfill their promise to save both salmon and steelhead and the culture of Northwest Native people. Gov. Inslee and Sen. Murray need to hear that we don’t have time for more studies.

Tell Gov. Inslee and Sen. Murray to get behind dam removal on the Snake River. Contact Gov. Inslee at 360-902-4111 or https://www.governor.wa.gov/contact/contact/send-gov-inslee-e-message. Contact Sen. Murray at 202-224-2621 or https://www.murray.senate.gov/write-to-patty.

Let’s take action now; there is no time to waste.
