Sometimes questions about a subject help and sometimes they confuse the issue. The latter was true in Tom Tangen’s letter (“How is racism defined?” The Columbian, May 6) about defining racism.
Based on his displayed lack of understanding, I think that before Mr. Tangen can ask valid questions about racism, including what students and the rest of us should all learn, he should go back to school to learn more about the subject himself.
