I see that our new Clark County Council member (Mr. Rylander) has shown, at his very first opportunity, that he is a card-carrying member of the extremist end of the Republican Party.
When a redistricting map closely reflecting the will of the voters was presented to the council, the Republican majority, predictably, voted against it. Per Mr. Medvigy, the reason is to keep Mrs. Bowerman in office. One would think an ex-judge would have a stronger grip on ethics. But the Republican-dominated Supreme Court is now proving that even judges can’t be trusted.
The new Republican seated on the council apparently came armed with yet another map constructed specifically to keep Mrs. Bowerman in office.
Wouldn’t it be novel to have council members who actually care what all their constituents want (not just the Republican ones) and possess a sense of ethics and enough backbone to stand up to the extremists in their party?
Does the “new guy” have any courage, or if he is just another sheep doing what he’s told? Just look at how he voted.
