Letter: Where is the outrage?

By Kenneth Alexander, Camas

In the 1960s and 1970s, violent left-wing groups like the Weathermen, Symbionese Liberation Army and Black Panthers were prominent. Today the FBI advises that violent right-wing groups pose the greatest threat to civil order in the United States. It is also of interest to note that a right-wing minority in our country is seeking political power using the presidency of former President Donald Trump as its launching platform.

This situation is far worse than what occurred in the 1960s and 1970s because violent right-wing groups have now entered the political mainstream, whereas violent left-wing groups never were politically mainstream. Our congresswoman, viewed by some as courageous and principled for her vote to impeach Donald Trump for his instigation of the violent insurrection at our U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, appears to insinuate she is better than the rest of her political kin. Sorry, I don’t see it.

In addition to obscuring the fact that she voted for Trump in 2020 and consistently supported him for four years, she shields the fact that numerous of her Republican cohorts in Congress supported the insurrection and some even participated behind the scenes. Where is our congresswoman’s outrage over this?
