Letter: Irritating election nonsense

Last week I had a brief discussion with a Joe Kent volunteer going door to door. While we agreed on nothing, we were friendly. Kudos for this volunteer’s civility!

Reading the pamphlet after he left, I was left with three impressions:

1. Our current 3rd District congressional representative is more moderate and sensible than I had thought. If the two running Democrats can’t think strategically, then I’ll reluctantly vote for Jaime Herrera Beutler. If Maria Perez were the only running Democratic candidate, I would totally support her. But if the Dems can’t pick a single candidate, supporting either one would be spitting into the wind. Jaime would be the lesser of greater troubles lurking out there.

2. Joe Kent’s campaign is a mess: Campaign signs and door-knocking over four months before the primary election are annoying and ineffective.

This is a man who did not file campaign papers correctly on time, and has no record of governmental service.

His campaign slogan contains a grammatical error. “America First Republican” does not make grammatical sense. How could this guy negotiate a bill when he can’t even string three words together correctly?

3. Do we really have to endure these trashy election signs and annoyances for another seven months? City councils, please relieve us of this irritating nonsense.
