A 16-year-old boy was taken into custody in Camas on Saturday in connection with the armed carjacking of an elderly woman in Vancouver, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

The carjacking was reported at 4:31 p.m. in the 12900 block of Northeast 28th Street, according to Vancouver police Sgt. Spencer Harris. He said the woman, who was not injured, told police a male subject took her car at gunpoint and drove away.

Harris said law enforcement located the car in the parking lot of the Safeway, 800 N.E. Third Ave. in Camas and set up containment after the driver of the car fled.

The teen was located a time later and taken into custody, according to Harris. He said the teen was in possession of a stolen firearm.

The teen’s name was not released.
